Chaya Sorscher-Levi specializes in the evaluation and treatment of:
One of Chaya‘s most rewarding professional experiences is providing the support service necessary to assist children to integrate and function successfully into mainstream society. She provides auditory training using the auditory verbal therapy approach. She works with infants, children and adults of all ages with hearing aids and/or cochlear implants.
Auditory and Language Processing Disorders:
Chaya provides remediation for language and auditory processing skills to children with auditory and language processing disorders. Remediation always starts with a thorough evaluation that pinpoints the specific areas of difficulty.Then Chaya uses a holistic approach to therapy incorporating many different techniques while including academic and school based materials to help children gain confidence and success.
Remediating difficult articulation disorders is a particular specialty of Chaya’s. She has worked with children diagnosed with dysarthria, apraxia, and phonological disorders. She has attended workshops by leading researchers and interventionists such as Pam Marshalla, Sara Johnson, Char Boshart, Nancy Kaufman and others. She has taken the PROMPT training courses and is currently pursuing certification in PROMPT. Chaya evaluates each client and chooses the techniques that would work the best to remediate their specific disorder or delay.
Education and Advocacy:
Chaya is a firm believer in the value of education. She provides education and advocacy efforts to ensure parents and care providers have a thorough knowledge of their child’s specific difficulty. She regularly consults with schools, parents, and other involved professionals to share information and facilitate intervention.
